Suddenly in a Pokémon World

[Introduction - Video]

[ At first the video only shows a paw as it stumbles to walk over the PokéGear and accidentally steps on the video button. Then a nose as the object is thoroughly sniffed. But a muffled nearby cry is enough to draw the small Vulpix’s attention away from its investigations and over to the young man asleep on the twin sized bed. He tosses, mussing his fair colored hair and clutches at the blankets as he winces in pain. Though there is no visible source of this discomfort it seems quite real to him.
As the Vulpix tilts its head, sadly calling out in sympathy, the young man startles and suddenly sits bolt upright. He appears dazed and takes a moment looking around the small room before bringing a hand up to gently hold his head. ]

This isn’t Cephiro… A nightmare…?
No, that can’t be right.

[ The man slowly looks at his hands, flexing the fingers as if he is surprised that he can do so. ]

That battle… were the Magic Knights able to win?
I don’t remember anything after that light. What happened? Does this mean… I’m not dead after all?

[What a pair they are! Both hiding the desire to return to where they came from behind a smile. ]

It is quite alright. If you have been here even longer than I have, you must be more interested in returning than I am.

[You have had a longer period of time in which to become homesick. ]

[Oh, indeed! It seems the two of them might have more in common then they originally thought.]

[Fai wave a hand at him.] Oh, no! I haven't been here very long at all!

[There is just someone he's trying to get back to. But, of course, with her is someone he's trying not to go back to.]

That’s right, you arrived only a day ago. [Remembers Fai saying that now. ]

Have you had enough time to decide what you are going to do?
Some one else mentioned journeying to another City.

[And Eagle wanted to see how that battle he had dreamed about had ended. Were the others safe?
Of course it might mean facing that light again. The soldier’s ending he had sought for himself… ]

Eh? Is that what we're supposed to do? [Fai's knowledge of this world isn't much more than Eagle's.] I think I remember someone mentioning breading and catching other Pokemon than the one we woke up with...

I don’t know what we are supposed to do…
[The tone indicates Eagle is less than inclined to do what he is ‘supposed’ to. ]

I haven’t met anyone here who really seems to know what is going on.
[He hasn’t run into his Mom yet. ]
It’s just that someone said he was thinking about traveling to a different City in search for information.

But you can do that? Catch and…
[Glances at the Vulpix, before laughing and shrugging the second word away when the little thing bristles at him. ]
If they are a kind of pet I guess that makes sense.

[Fai gives a thoughtful sound, before he goes digging through his bag.] I did get a letter telling me to await further instructions... [He then looks back up at the screen, holding up the letter.] Did you get something like that?

[Oh yes, Fai is a Rocket. But, that doesn't mean he'll be inclined to do any of the stuff he was ordered to do.]

Ah, that doesn't sound like too bad of an idea! Perhaps we can find a way back to our homes!

[Fai gives a shrug, looking down at his Growlithe.] I'm not sure! We're supposed to battle with them, right? Maybe we have to train them...

[Shakes his head a little. ]

I didn’t see any kind of letter. I wonder what kind of further instructions you were supposed to receive…

[And Eagle isn’t one. ^,^ ]

If you decide to fight with them. It would be worst to not train them…

[Which he has… not yet decided to do. ]

But, I think I can manage just fine on my own.

[Which makes the little Vulpix very sad, but it can’t be helped. Eagle likes to rely on his own strength. It will take a little while before he can rely on a Pokémon. ]

[Fai gives a shrug.] I'm not sure. The only people I've talked to were on this communicator. No one here has told me anything.

As for me, I think I'd rather not fight at all! [He gives a laugh. His Growlithe, on the other hand, gives a whine. He wants to fight, even if Fai doesn't!]

[Poor Pokémon… Having to deal with such masters.]

Then maybe you should leave? I don’t see any reason to wait for orders if you didn’t sign up to receive any.

Of course that may require a fight for you to leave unless you can sneak out.

[He gives a nod in agreement. He wasn't about to be a pawn in someone else's Master Plan. One was quite enough, thank you. Besides, if these "orders" are important enough, they'll find a way to get to him. Right?] Ah, once again, you appear to be right! Where is my mind today? [He smacks himself on the forehead once more.]

[Fai waves a hand, laughing.] Oh, I'm sure I can find a way out! []Fai glances down at his Growlithe, who's looking up eagerly at Fai, tail wagging. He might be able to sneak out without a problem...but could his Pokemon?]

[Eagle smiles reassuringly. ]

Yes, I’m sure you will be able to find a way out.

[But, just in case. ]

Do you know where you are?

[That way if Fai wasn’t heard from after his escape attempt a rescue could be mounted. ]

Ah, I'm at a place called ...Mahogany Town, I believe. [He goes to get his bag, digging out his map, before looking back up, smiling.] Where are you? The room you're in looks different than mine!

[The answer to that question requires a bit of an investigation and the only way to do that is to exit the room and run into ‘Mother’. She of course explains everything… It does take a little while for Eagle to get back with an answer. Apparently ‘Mother’ likes to talk a lot. ]

That was strange… clearly she is not my mother…
[Softly stated because Eagle isn’t speaking directly into the PokéGear. The voice suddenly becomes a lot stronger as the device is addressed directly.]

It is some where called New Bark Town.

[Eyes the door suspiciously as if ‘Mother’ might return at any time. ]

This is supposed to be my house…

[Fai waits patiently for Eagle to return. During his absence, he turns his attention to his Growlith, wondering what he was going to name him. Since apparently people do that here. Fai'd never had a pet before, so having to think up of a name for something was first.]

[Fai looks up as Eagle returns. He heard him mutter something, but he wasn't quite able to make out what before he spoke loud enough for him to hear.] New Bark Town... [He looks it up on the map.] Ah, it seems like the two are quite a ways from each other...

Eh? It is? Strange... [He then gives a laugh.] Does that mean I get a house as well?

[Already looking at his version of that map… That kind of distance would make it unlikely that he would be able to help if something went wrong. ]

Very strange… [A ‘you have no idea HOW strange’ kind of laugh. ]
Maybe when people arrive they either get a house or a letter. I don’t know why that is… But, it’s almost like we are being broken up into two groups.

[He gives a sound of agreement. He keeps his voice curious and light, although he's already beginning to get an idea of what's going on. He's been told to wait for further instructions, while Eagle was given a house and no instructions at all... Well, Fai refused to be included in another's plot for supreme control. Whatever instructions he was to get, he refused to do them.]

How strange! What would be the point of bringing us all here and splitting us up? [It's a rhetorical question.]

[Rhetorical or not… Eagle still wished he knew the answer to that question. Since he didn’t he could only answer with a little silence as he took a moment to look away from the screen, lost in thought. ]

Would it be too much to ask… what were you doing before you found yourself here?

Ah! Not at all! [He gives a smile] I was actually traveling between dimensions, if you'd believe it! [He laughs] My friends and I were leaving one world and then I woke up here!

[He tilts his head to the side.] And yourself? If you don't mind telling!

Traveling between dimensions doesn’t seem that strange. I know three people who managed to do that and… given that we also seem to have traveled to a new world. [Not really strange at all anymore!]

[And Eagle smiles… but as one who also hides things that are bothering him behind a friendly smile, maybe Fai wouldn’t be fooled into thinking there was nothing wrong with the vague statement Eagle came up with. ]

I was in the middle of a little battle.

[It was anything but a little battle, really more of a life and death match, and it was the source of the dream Eagle had earlier. ]

In some dimensions, it's not very common at all! Some of the dimensions I've been do have no magic or special abilities at all! [And since Fai isn't sure what sort of world Eagle is from...]

Oh! My! [Even if Fai was not able to recognize the same sort of smile he wears a good majority of the time, he certainly know what battles, no matter how important, are not a good think to be taken away from.] I'm sorry! I'm sure you're eager to return, having left from such a thing...

[It wasn’t asked but… ]
Magic doesn’t exist on Autozam, but the other three worlds in the system have a lot of magic and very little technology.

[Am I eager to return to that? Should I be?]

I am curious to see how that battle ended.

[Fai was curious, but he wasn't going to ask. He had just met the guy, he didn't want to get on his bad side just yet.]

Oh! That's quite interesting! There are multiple worlds in your dimension? [He tilts his head to the side, curiously. He certainly hopes that, for as many questions he's been asking Eagle, he hasn't offered much information about his own world.]

I'm sure! Especially if there were friends involved in the battle! [And he's certainly speaking from experience.]

[It’s very difficult to get on Eagle’s bad side. ]

There are four planets: Autozam, Chizeta, Fahren, and Cephiro.

[Especially if there were friend involved in the battle…
Way to hit the nail on the head there. Eagle is just not going to say anything more about it for now.
I’m sure they would have found a way to win without me there! ]

Your dimension had only one world?

[Fai is just going to let the subject drop. Considering he was just in a battle himself, he understands not wanting to talk about it.]

Yes! [He gives a smile.] My dimension only had one world! But my dimension was full of magic, so I knew about the existence of other dimensions! I even moved from one dimension to another when I was younger!

It’s very difficult to do that, isn’t it? To move between dimensions?

[I thought only the Pillar had that kind of power… ]
