Illness and Attacking Pidgey Flock

[ Video / Action - Route 6, just outside of Saffron City in Kanto ]

[ The brightly flashing lights and brilliantly colored ornaments that were being hung around the city were beautiful and even a bit mysterious. Once his adventure on the route was complete Eagle made a note to ask everyone just what the occasion was.
The Commander held a Pokeball close to his chest as he ran through the tall grass before making a final impressive flip to land safely on the pathway back to Saffron. Who knew that searching for new types of Pokemon in a place like this would anger so many Pidgey? Or that they would be able to fly quite so fast…
Still Eagle and the small vulpix running along by his feet were making good time. Just a little more and they would be safe within the City’s limits. Even angered as they were surely the pokemon wouldn’t follow them in there. It was far too built up and urban for their tastes.
With a final push Eagle surged toward the City only to be brought up short by a sharp stab of pain. His hand immediately clutched his chest and his running faltered. Before he even had time to process what had happened he was rolling to a sudden stop on the ground, hacking and coughing in a vain attempt to get enough air back into his lungs to escape. The salty metallic taste of blood filled his mouth. This was not going to be a minor fit like the last one had been. This turn of illness was much more serious. It left him prone and defenseless as all he could do was kneel on the ground and struggle to breathe while Carrera did her best to snarl, trying to scare away the approaching horde of angry pidgey.
But, there were too many for one small pokemon to handle all by herself... ]

Eagle! ---

[ She freezes. Something was happening. What --- ]

What --- what is happening?

Are you sick?

A doctor... You need a doctor right away!

[Eagle is unable to answer for several minutes but with the approaching pidgey horde he is at least able to will himself enough to reach into his bag and pull out a poke ball with his free hand. NSX roared as he materialized between his trainer and the pidgeys. The giant Onix was more than frightening enough to give the flock a shock. Instead of dive bombing like they had planned the pidgeys chose instead to hover in the air, high over their prey. Maybe the giant pokemon would leave and they could have their revenge.

After a few more painful coughs the condition finally releases its hold enough to allow Eagle to speak again though he is out of breath and his voice is weak when he finally does manage it. ]

Its… I didn’t think it would get this bad here.

[ Those were agonizing moments. Lacus kept hugging Mister Pink to her, wondering and praying that her friend was going to be alright. What sould she do?

Mister Pink was doing his best to cheer her up by patting her hand. ]

What happened? Where did ... these Pokemon come from?

Where are you? Please ... don't tell you are by yourself, Eagle.

These pokemon must have been hiding in the tall grass. I didn't see them while I was looking for Pokemon. Not until they... decided to attack.

[Eagle paused a moment to check on the pidgey, but they showed no sign of wanting to get closer now that NSX was glaring at them. ]

I was looking around on Route 6 in Kanto for interesting new kind of Pokemon...
I should be fine in a moment though, don't worry. This shouldn't last too long. As soon as I have recovered making it back to Saffron should be easier.

Please be careful ... should I ... call a doctor? Someone?

I do not like this ...you need help.

[ Her hand was shaking a little. Mister Pink was staring sadly at Eagle too. Because he liked Eagle. Certainly a lot better than most of Lacus's male friends. ]

Blood ... is that ... blood?

[And Eagle did so hate worrying people...
That blood is wiped off his hand as soon as she point it out. Though he doesn't address it directly it is impossible to deny.]

I'm sorry you had to see this. It isn't something I like for people to find out about.

[It would just cause people to worry. ]

The only medical professional I have spoken to about it recently left Johto. I'm not sure if there is anyone else who would know what to do for an illness like this.

Don't apologize ... if you are sick, then that is not your fault. But ---

You can't continue on like this ...

There must be someone you can talk to. That is better than not trying at all, isn't it? Eagle, I am afraid. I'm very afraid ...

[Carrera nods even going so far as to interject a loud warning yelp. Something along the lines of, "That is what I have been saying the whole time, listen to her!" ]

Maybe... it is something I should give more attention to. It really had never become this bad in Johto and with the magic in place, it didn't seem like it would.
But, I can see I was mistaken in believing that.

[ Lacus did not know ... what Carrera was saying, but she could guess that she was as upset and worried as she was.

Mister Pink nodded and joined Carrera in the scolding! ]

If you need help looking for a doctor ... please tell me.

I am your friend, I wish to help you and not see you in such pain. Does Geo and Bakura know ... about this?

[Well, there is a very good reason to see a doctor. Eagle likes Mr. Pink too and wouldn't want that to change. But... Carrera will have to try and translate what he said for Eagle later. He doesn't really understand Pokemon. ]

Thank you, Lacus. That is a very kind offer.

Geo knows. He knew about my illness long before we found ourselves in Johto, but Bakura... I have been trying to keep this from him. He is so sensitive I really don't know that telling him is a good idea.

[ Mister Pink crosses his arms and turns away. He wasn't really scared of blood, but he didn't like looking at Eagle's blood. SO he just out of Lacus's arms and ran away. He was very upset ... and as a spoiled Pokemon --- it was the only way he could handle it. ]

I see. I understand.

[ But that doesn't mean she liked it. ]

... because to be honest, I think I would have done the same thing.

[Eagle stands, leaning on one of NSX’s boulders for a brief pause, before managing to stand fully on his own again. ]

Then maybe you could not mention this to him? I hate to ask something like that of you but…

[Well, he does worry about Bakura a lot. ]

I don't know if I could lie to him, Eagle ... I cannot promise you that.

[ Pauses. ] I won't ... tell him, but if he asks, I cannot hide this from him --- or Geo.

Please. That is all I can promise you ...

You don't have to lie. I would never ask you to do that.

Just, not mentioning it is enough or saying that he should speak to me himself if he wants to know, though I doubt he realizes anything is going on. I don't believe he will think to ask you anything about it at all.

I am just worried that ... Bakura won't forgive me for keeping this from him... if he ever found out.

[ Bakura would be very sad. ] Just take care of yourself, Eagle. I don't like hiding things ... especially from friends. If you ever need help again ...

[ She could finish. ]

You can blame me for it if he finds out. I will try to make certain he knows you were totally against the idea.

[Eagle doesn't really like it either... hiding things... It is something that bothers him, but Bakura already has so much to worry about. He doesn't need something like this on top of all that. ]

[ She smiles. Because somehow, she also feels that she is at fault. ]

Just be careful ... and that will be 'thank you' enough for me.

I am the one asking you to do this. It would be my fault anyway, if he did find out about it.

[Maybe, though Eagle feels like the one solely responsible for it. ]

I will try to be careful.

Will you be going back to the others now? Right now, I think it is too dangerous to have you around wild Pokemon alone.

Yes, I think I will. I wouldn't want to still be out here when the sun sets, wild Pokemon or not.

I will be fine with my Pokemon around though. I think NSX is a bit too much for those Pidgeys to want to tangle with.

[The Onix gets a friendly pat. He is a very good Pokemon. ]

[ Laughs and gives a big smile to NSX. ]

Take care of Eagle, okay, NSX?!

And ... Eagle, take care! Give my regards to Geo and Bakura.

So go straight back.

[NSX roars a little. A sign that he intends to do just that! ]

Yes, I will. Thank you again, Lacus... and I'm sure Mr. Pink will be fine once he recovers from the shock, but if you could let him know everything will be alright?

[Is was sad to see the little guy run off like that. ]

I will ... I know he will ... I think he really likes you, Eagle.

[ She is sad too. ] I will try to make him understand. I promise.

Hopefully you will be able to explain it better than I could.

[Eagle starts heading back towards town. ]
