Tournament talk while at work

[Video or Action at Golden Rod City Inn]

Did anyone happen to see the posters that have been put up around town advertising the Johto Fighting Tournament? I notice it says you are allowed to use weapons in this competition. I wonder what kinds of weapons people will have. I was under the impression that all weapons were illegal here?

[It never hurts to fish for information with a friendly smile on your face. ]

I am considering signing up for this.
[Which means he already has. ]
It should be an interesting change from the more commonplace Pokemon battles that occur here.

Oh, excuse me…

[Since Eagle is currently working as the front desk clerk at the Goldenrod City inn a moment has to be spared as the PokeGear is set down on the table long enough to help one of the inn’s new guests check in. It doesn‘t take long and soon Eagle has the PokeGear in hand again.]

I am sorry about the interruption, but I did want to ask, is anyone else thinking of signing up for this tournament?

[OOC: Lost your room key, need to check in, Pokemon stuck in the tub? Anyone who has business at the inn can catch Eagle at the front desk. ]

Some, but that's part of why I train with my team. It's harder to not have a clan backing me up... Something like my arm would have gotten fixed up in half a second by my clan's white mage. Some of the stuff here still works the same, like-- oh, there was one lady I know of who should have died but only ended up injured? I'm more used to that.

It isn’t possible to die here?

[He had really never heard that before. ]

Or maybe her injuries just weren’t as bad as they appeared?
It would be more difficult without healing magic...

It makes sense to me. Johto has a lot in common with the last world I was in, and you couldn't die there either. Since I kind of learned how to fight the hard way, the fact that you couldn't actually die was sort of a good thing.

[Ritz is shrugging a little.] Johto seems sort of like it's based off of a video game- the music really does sound like it came from one, and some of the 'logic'... doesn't work in a real-world sense but works well for a video game. Like the ledges.

It is that. I miss white mages. ...And some of the things I used to be able to do with a sword.

If I tell the people who are worried about me that it isn’t possible to die here, I wonder if that would make them feel better about my entering the tournament. It should at least ease their minds a little.

[Oh yes… the ledges… He is familiar with those. ]

The ledges did confuse me for a while. I actually spent an afternoon trying to climb one but I never could reach the top. It does all feel like some kind of game, especially if the prize for playing the game all the way through really is the ‘end of the game’ where we are allowed to return to where we came from.

Yeah. The last world I was in was based off of a video game, too. [Ritz is moving the Gear and setting it down.]

You can learn a lot by listening to people you wouldn't normally talk to.

Was it? I thought it was strange enough to find one world that was based on a video game but if there are actually two… It gives the theory even more weight.

There aren’t very many people out there that I wouldn’t normally talk to, but there are so many…
[Friendly outgoing type here. ]
I think it would be difficult to speak to them all. Especially with so many arriving new all of the time.
