So we finally know the reason so many of our friends have fallen asleep. Their souls have been stolen by a Pokemon called Shedinja. While this seems difficult to believe… that kind of creature must possess some form of magic that allows them to capture souls. Do not look into the hole on their backs. Apparently looking there is what grants the Pokemon the ability to take possession of your soul.
I encourage everyone to try and capture these Pokemon. If you head to a Pokemon Center the nurses will hand you the black colored Pokeballs that were mentioned in the transmission made by Professor Oak. The creatures themselves are weak to fire and flying attacks, I am not sure what else.

Just so we can get some kind of count of how many of these Pokemon are on the loose could you list how many Shedinja you have seen in an area and how many you have been able to capture?
I have been able to capture three of these Pokemon on Route 3...

[Eagle is interrupted as Astina drives another Shedinja from the tall grass. He quickly looks to the ground as he calls out the name, “Carrera!” The Vulpix hops into the battle, launching the fire attack Eagle wants without him even having to say it, since at this point they have fallen into a sort of Pokemon catching rhythm. Shedinja attempts to harden but the fire attack is far too powerful. It wiggles uncomfortably before its last defense falls. It crashes to the ground only to be greeted a moment later by one of those earlier mentioned black Pokeballs.
Once this capture is collected and placed safely into his backpack Eagle returns to address the PokeGear again.]

Sorry about the interruption. I have captured four of these creatures on Route 32 so far those are the only ones I have seen here, but I will keep looking until I am sure we have captured them all.

Can Pokeballs be locked? I haven’t had any success keeping my Pokemon inside of those. It seems that if they don’t want to be inside they can just open the ball and escape.
Still, that would be a lot of Pokeballs to try and store. Maybe there is a way to remove the soul stealing ability from these Pokemon?

Hm, the Pokeballs are designed for the Pokemon's comfort, trapping it in there wouldn't be wise for a normal trainer. It would be angry. Professor Oak may have a different storage mechanism in those black Pokeballs, in order to keep the troublesome ones contained.

I don't know how that would be possible. Removal of the ability would require knowledge of how it works, wouldn't it? Can you make a pokemon forget how it does things?

If they are designed for comfort then you would think they would enjoy staying inside a Pokeball. But, maybe it becomes boring after a while.

It maybe possible to get a Pokemon to forget a learned move, I have heard some rumors about that, but an ability like stealing souls. I am not sure that could be forgotten… unless the Professor has some kind of magic or technology at his disposal that we have not been made aware of.

Pokemon are active creatures, I don't think they can stay still for too long. I suppose it depends on their level of patience.

That implies the ability to steal souls differs from the normal ability of a pokemon; there is the possibility it is a normal attack. If abilities can be forgotten by some means, it might be possible to remove the ability that way. There might be technology for that, it is advanced enough here, but people don't seem to be utilizing it as much as they could be. Professor Oak might hold the monopoly.

You are the second person I have spoken to that seems to believe Professor Oak might be holding out on us. Do you really believe that is the case? That he might have more technology or knowledge of how/why we were brought here?

When he greeted us, I got the impression he knew where we came from. But he's hiding and only communicating from a distance. That's suspicious, don't you think?

I didn’t realize he was hiding. The message about the Shedinja was the first time I had even heard of him. I just assumed like most of the other people I have spoken to on the PokeGear that he was in a different city from where I was.

I think he's from here, not somewhere else like the rest of us. You didn't start in New Bark Town?

I did start in New Barktown, but admittedly I didn’t stay there very long.

Did I miss out on something by starting out so fast?

Maybe. He might not be there when everyone comes, but I think I saw him leaving after I arrived. I didn't stay long, either, but I did stay the night.

That seems very strange. [And now some one has growing suspicions about Professor Oak! Good job! ^,^ ]

If I ever see him myself I think I will have a lot of questions for him.

If we knew where he was, it would be easier. [Pause.] Do you think that announcement can be tracked anywhere? It had to come from some place.

I’m sure it could have been. If I had any of the technology like we have on Autozam, I could run a simple scan to find out where he was. But here, I don’t know if that kind of technology exists.

The technology here is adaptable enough, if you were adept at assembling systems there is a possibility of making something more advanced. [Stops, frowning.] But that could take a while.

Yes, a bit. Since Autozam is so full of technology it is kind of a requirement to at least have a rudimentary knowledge of machines.

You get used to what you're exposed to. The way you say it, Autozam must be advanced.

I suppose it is. Most of the people I have met here are surprised when I mention data scanners and mecha that are very common place.

We have similar things in Reimei... But what are mecha?

Mecha seem the be the main thing most people are unfamiliar with. They are giant robots can a person can climb inside of and pilot in battle or competitions.

Well, my FTO is… [Searching around for a large mecha sized tree, but there really wasn’t one that was quite large enough. So he settles on the tallest one he can find.]
… it is a little taller than that tree.
