Suddenly in a Pokémon World

[Introduction - Video]

[ At first the video only shows a paw as it stumbles to walk over the PokéGear and accidentally steps on the video button. Then a nose as the object is thoroughly sniffed. But a muffled nearby cry is enough to draw the small Vulpix’s attention away from its investigations and over to the young man asleep on the twin sized bed. He tosses, mussing his fair colored hair and clutches at the blankets as he winces in pain. Though there is no visible source of this discomfort it seems quite real to him.
As the Vulpix tilts its head, sadly calling out in sympathy, the young man startles and suddenly sits bolt upright. He appears dazed and takes a moment looking around the small room before bringing a hand up to gently hold his head. ]

This isn’t Cephiro… A nightmare…?
No, that can’t be right.

[ The man slowly looks at his hands, flexing the fingers as if he is surprised that he can do so. ]

That battle… were the Magic Knights able to win?
I don’t remember anything after that light. What happened? Does this mean… I’m not dead after all?

[[a warm smile at the vulpix]] Someone you speak the same language as is always nice, un. [[nods]]

And I don't think I got a letter like that...

[[and he's pulling out his bag to check again. Cue Amane wondering WTF he's doing and getting in the way]]

aaa, Amane-chan--!

[[some wrangling later and she's back to sitting on his head while he resumes his search]] I don't see one. And I didn't notice one in the room when I woke up either.

[The Vulpix thinks on that before deciding that is probably true and yipping to make sure there was no harm done. ]

I wonder why some people were singled out to receive letters and others were not. [Curious about that but also about the creature now sitting on Bakura’s head. ]

What kind of Pokémon is that?

Maybe it has something to do with what sort of world they came from? Or maybe they're working for the GM! [[a bit of a grin. It's mostly a joke.]] the GM always passes notes to people he has in on his schemes, after all.

And Amane-chan is a misdreavus. A ghost type! [[smiles up at the little pain who makes a ghostly moaning sound in return. Which doesn't seem to bother Bakura at all as he repacks his bag togethr.]]

The GM…? [Smiles. ] I wonder if there is some one like that. They should know a lot about this world.

[And maybe how to leave it. ]

That is a ghost? [Thinking - But, it’s so cute. It doesn’t look scary at all. ]
Do you know what… [Gestures at the Vulpix. ] … she is?

Aaa-- no, I'd have to look it up. [[and he's not sure if he can use this as a phone and an index at the same time.]] I'm still just learning about them all!

And a GM would, since they're the ones who run the games, after all!

You are still ahead of me. I wouldn’t have known that was a ghost Pokémon.

I will have to play with this piece of technology later on. To see how it works. And… of course, look up this little creature.

It was pretty easy to guess, really! [[huge smile. I mean, c'mon, it's obviously a ghost!]]

But, it’s nothing like I expected a ghost to look like.
[Beams. ]

It’s a lot cuter than that.

[[laugh a bit a that]] Un, there is that!

But ghosts a can look all sorts of ways, a ghost that looks like a girl isn't that far fetched!

I have heard of human ghosts before, but it never occurred to me that animals might also become ghosts… or that they could become pets.

[Which really was the odder concept!]

There are a lot of different ways ghosts can come into existence, not always from a death, and there are lots of stories of people having kami as their personal spirits! [[smiles up at Amane again]]

I always thought ghosts were just something made up for stories.
I have never seen one… [Corrects that. ] …had never seen one until today.

They're real. [[there's a bit of a distant softness to his smile with that]] I've never seen one directly... but sometimes...

[[and he trails off a bit wistfully before letting that line of thought stop.]]

So you're still in the starter house?

[Strange term. ]

If you mean the house I woke up in, then yes. I have been looking through this book.
[The manual he earlier retrieved from his bag. ]

I can come meet you if you'd like. There's not too much in town, but I can give you the brief tour.

[Considers this. ]

Thank you. I think that would be very nice. I haven’t really looked around very much… though I did run into some lady who claimed to be my mother. Did that happen to you too?

[[He looks down slightly as he nods]]

Un.

[[He's trying to hide it but it did upset him just a bit. Thankfully the excitement of being in what looked like an RPG wiped that away real quick.

And he pushes it off again as he starts to walk.]]

She ran out pretty quickly though, didn't she?

[Bakura wasn’t the only one a little upset about it… though Eagle won’t admit it. ]

Actually I think she is still in the kitchen. She seems to be cooking something and speaking about clocks a lot…

[[Bakura won't admit it either. Not supposed to show that sort of emotion when you're a boy, after all!]]

[[His eyes widen a bit at that and he looks almost lost for a moment before he shakes it off]]

Oh...

Hm? Are you alright Bakura?

Eh? Aa! [[looks utterly embarrassed, rubbing the back of his neck. Amane floats around his head a moment before going to rest on his shoulder this time, being almost comforting]]

Sorry, just was thinking of something, it's nothing!

[[and he resumes walking again. Oh hey, it's the outside of the starter house! If you're looking out the window, you'll see the odd black and white combo of boy and ghost]]

[Eagle steps outside when he notices Bakura and the currently unnamed Vulpix follows close behind… which seems to confuse the Commander for a moment as he watches it run to catch up with him. ]

I… guess she wants to go for a tour too.

[Smiles at Bakura and his friend. ]

This really is a small town… unless there are more buildings hidden over there in the woods?

She's your companion now, like Amane-chan is mine. [[smiles]] And there's the road off to the next towns off that way [[nods in that direction]] It's just the four buildings as far as I can tell.

That was what the lady said as well, but I have no intention of making a Pokémon fight for me. [Smiles at the vulpix. ]
Since I can fight for myself, you can stay here and wait for someone else.

[To which the vulpix responds with a growl.
He doesn’t want my help but he needs it!

It’s Stubborn vs. Stubborn… and she isn’t about to give in! So when Eagle starts walking around to look at the rest of this small town, she follows again.]

There are only the four buildings… [A chuckle. ] Then this will be a short tour!

You don't have to make her fight to have her for a companion. [[gives her an amused and almost fond smile]]

And it'll be rather short! [[says with a laugh, Amane joining in with a cackle as she swoops around the air once before going to try and land on Eagle's head. Just something with her and pale to white hair...]]
