Suddenly in a Pokémon World

[Introduction - Video]

[ At first the video only shows a paw as it stumbles to walk over the PokéGear and accidentally steps on the video button. Then a nose as the object is thoroughly sniffed. But a muffled nearby cry is enough to draw the small Vulpix’s attention away from its investigations and over to the young man asleep on the twin sized bed. He tosses, mussing his fair colored hair and clutches at the blankets as he winces in pain. Though there is no visible source of this discomfort it seems quite real to him.
As the Vulpix tilts its head, sadly calling out in sympathy, the young man startles and suddenly sits bolt upright. He appears dazed and takes a moment looking around the small room before bringing a hand up to gently hold his head. ]

This isn’t Cephiro… A nightmare…?
No, that can’t be right.

[ The man slowly looks at his hands, flexing the fingers as if he is surprised that he can do so. ]

That battle… were the Magic Knights able to win?
I don’t remember anything after that light. What happened? Does this mean… I’m not dead after all?

Aaa, no, I don't think so, sorry. [[not unless that was the Hikaru he knew in elementary school... he couldn't really remember her last name. Probably wasn't.]]

I don't think we're really anyone's guest. Or if we are, no one's introduced themselves as the host. And since battles are done with Pokemon here, there shouldn't be any need for them. The weapons, I mean. [[he hopes. He hadn't actually even that part much thought.]]

That is alright. Tokyo is supposed to be a large City from what I have heard of it. It really was a long shot that you might have been a friend of hers.

[There are a lot of strange things in this bag. Shampoo, towels, food, money, a change of… oh, that too… putting those things back into the bag. ]

It looks like some one was planning a trip.

[He still has no idea that someone is him. ]

There must be some one who brought us here… or at least some kind of magic?

[The Vulpix hops down from the shelf to wander around on the bed. Eagle watches it before deciding…]

I think I would prefer a weapon. I don’t see how I could ask something like that to fight, it seems too cruel.

[That and he is kind of independant minded...
But, the statement does make the little Vulpix cry sadly before curling up into a ball.]

I think everyone gets one of those bags. There are no buses or trains, so it seems like the only way to get between cities is to walk... [[does not sound too happy at that]]

And it would have to be some form of magic for something like this!

[[and he blinks a bit at the sad vulpix]] Is he all right?

This bag is supposed to be for me? That is strange.
Who would have bothered to put something like this together.

[Not really sure what buses or trains are but… ]
There wouldn’t be any mecha around in that case. That will make it difficult to return to Cephiro…
[…if that is what I should be doing.]

[Meanwhile the Vulpix bristles at being called a he.
I’m a girl! ]

I’m not sure… It does look a little upset about something.

[[there is a big nerd glee moment at the word "Mecha" right there]] You come from a place with mecha?!

[[only to be brought back down a little at the bristle]] Aaa-- [[Did he make the usual mistake for him in reverse?]] Maybe it's a she instead...

[[there's a noise from behind from his misdreavus appears to be laughing at him and he turns with much embarrassment]] I didn't want to assume it was the other way around!

[[and just more laughter before he turns back to the screen with a slightly red face.]] So mean...

[Eagle is greatly amused by the nerd moment. Mecha are one of his favorite subjects after all! ]

Autozam has a lot of mecha. We even have mecha tournaments to decide who is the best pilot. If you are interested in mecha I’m sure you would enjoy those!

[Much better! The vulpix yips happily at the correction. While Eagle watches on, entirely surprised by the interaction.]

They understand… human speech?

That sounds amazing! Aaa~aa, I wish I could see it! [[just because he was an RPG nerd didn't mean he couldn't be a nerd about mech as well!]]

And they seem to be able to! I'm pretty sure Amane-chan understands me, at least some of the times. [[smiles up at the pokemon happily, even if just a moment ago he was pouting at her. He's used to being teased, after all.]]

[Sits on the bed next to the little Vulpix, taking a moment to speak to the animal. ]

I’m sorry. I had no idea you could understand anything I said. What is your name?

[When the Vulpix yips again, it is a much happier sound… but of course it can‘t speak and looks at Eagle fully expecting him to give her a name.]

[Eagle looks back to the PokéGear and Bakura. ]

They can’t speak though can they?

Aa-- They can say their species name! ...but I think that's it.

They do?

[Looks back at the vulpix who only yips again. ]

[*sweat drop* ]

Apparently she doesn’t know how to say even that much.

Maybe she's a baby still? Or just not all of them work the same way?

I really wouldn’t have anyway of knowing… unless…

Eagle gets up and walks over to where that bag it again.

I think I saw a book in here. Maybe it says more about this place and the animals in it.

Un! There's a manual, which is pretty helpful. And this thing has a lot of information too. [[not quite sure on the talking on it and looking things up on it at the same time thing yet]]

The communicator does?

[Finds the manual that was in the bag and returns to take a seat on the bed once again while flipping through the book. ]

The PokéGear has several functions… [Reading from the book. ]
Among them are a clock, a map, a phone and the radio.

[Smiles at this sudden wealth of information. ]

You were right. This little device is a good deal more useful than a simple communicator. The map… sounds especially interesting.

Un. [[nod nod]] It has a lot of smaller towns and cities listed. I've been thinking about heading out to the nearest one soon.

[The Vulpix once again chimes in to bark and swish it’s tail.
I want to go too! ]

Are you? Then I hope you have a safe journey.
But, you have to walk the whole way? It is a good thing that town doesn’t appear to be that far away.

It looks like. [[does not appear to happy about this, but what can you do.]] And it is good that it's so close! I've only camped out once before, I'm not sure how well I'll do with that. But if it's only for one night, it should be all right. [[he hopes]]

[Camping out in a strange area without any weapons or local knowledge… yea, it didn’t really sound like the best idea. ]

Have you had the chance to learn more about the area first? If it is a well traveled path it might not be a problem, but if there are monsters or you run out of supplies…

[Even if they only just met Eagle is a little worried about Bakura going off on his own like that, especially with his limited camping experience. ]

Maybe you should find a more experienced camper to travel with.

It seems to be a pretty solid road, even if it's not paved.

[[a bit of a pause. Right. RPG world. Probably complete with random encounters. Hrm. Well that puts a wrinkle in things. Aaaa, he really needed to think these things through better!]]

Un, I probably should. [[looks a bit sheepish]]

[[oh hey, idea!]] Do you have any experience with it?

We don’t actually do a lot of camping on Autozam. The biodomes and climate controlled atmosphere kind of make it unnecessary.

[A laugh. ]

But, I should be able to manage.

[He’s resourceful enough for it. ]

What is supposed to be in these other Cities?

I'm not really sure! I'm hoping a few more clues to what we should be doing here.

[[a pause and a sheepish addition]] and maybe a game shop or something like that. There doesn't seem to be too much here, really.

not even a tavern to pick up the main quest [[said mostly to himself there]]

[Ah, but that aside is picked up on! ]

Aren’t you too young to drink?

[And confusion ensues. ]

Aaa-- not for the drink! [[says with utter embarrassment]] For information! That's where you find out all sorts of things in games. Since this is sort of like a game world, I thought maybe it would work the same way.

A tavern is a good source of information, or at least it can be, but nothing about this world seems like a game.

It all feels very real.
